A BRICK hurled from a fly-over footbridge smashed through the windscreen of a lorry.
The driver of the lorry was making his way along Glenburn Road towards Skelmersdale when the incident happened.
The unknown offender, who was on the footbridge above the A-road, timed the launching of the brick so that it smashed into the windscreen of the vehicle causing the shocked driver to slam on the brakes.
Glass shattered all over the inside of the lorry but luckily for the driver and other road users, no-one was seriously hurt.
The driver had just completed a transport delivery late on Friday evening (August 9).
The incident happened at about 12.45 the following morning, with the criminal making off undetected.
With a lack of CCTV in the area and no clear description of the culprit, police are now appealing for anyone with information on this dangerous act to come forward.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Constabulary said: “An investigation is underway and we are determined to find the person responsible for this reckless act.
“The outcome of this could have been much worse and the driver is incredibly luckily not to have been more seriously injured.
“If anybody has any information about this incident, they are asked to call police on 101,” added the spokesperson.
