POLICE have continued to issue warrants and arrests in the fight against drug-related crime in Skelmersdale.
The Lancashire Constabulary has been focusing on the town over the weekend and have made three arrests and carried out foot patrols to pubs in the town last Saturday (August 10) in their continuing crusade against crime.
On Sunday, August 11, Lancashire Police arrested two men aged 17 and 18 on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis after the police uncovered 18 bags of cannabis hidden under the seat of a moped at an address on Wheatacre.
The pair have been released on police bail pending further enquiries until October 2.
Police also arrested a 29-year-old man on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis after being stopped in the street on Willow Drive after he smelt heavily of cannabis. He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries until September 11.
Chief Inspector for West Lancashire Police Ian Whitehead said: “The ongoing police activity continues to receive widespread support from the community as well as serving as a strong deterrent.
“I’d reassurance people this is a long term, on-going operation to disrupt, tackle and prevent criminals from operating in Skelmersdale.
“The information we have receive from members of the community is crucial so I’d urge anybody with any information that could assist the police to call us on 101, speak to a local officer or call the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
