Skelmersdale Fun Day for cancer charities
A CANCER survivor is now dedicated to raising money for other sufferers of the disease including Skelmersdale tot Millie Heaton.
Chloe Talbot is holding a charity event on Sunday, August 25 at Skelmersdale Football Club for Millie, who has stage four neuroblastoma, Families Against Neuroblastoma (FAN) and Cancer Research.
The 32-year-old was herself diagnosed with skin cancer almost seven years ago and says that this is part of the reason why she is so dedicated to fundraising.
Chloe said: “Cancer is a charity that is very close to my heart, I lost my nan and aunty to the disease.
“My fiancé best friend got diagnosed with leukaemia last winter at the age of 30 – this shocked us all and made me think about putting together a night in our local pub with bands raise cash for Cancer Research to help fund to find a cure.”
“I hadn’t really put the plans together when the shocking news came of little Millie Heaton being diagnosed with neuroblastoma in our town.
“Millie’s story touched me so much, as a mother myself I can’t even began to understand what Millie’s family must be going through. So I then decided to change the charity night into a family fun day.
“I have my own party business so I wanted to use my skills and contacts to put together a fun day.”
The fun day will start at 12 noon for five hours of live music, disco, birds of prey demonstration, bouncy castles, face painting and character visits from Buzz, Woody, Mickey Mouse and Peppa Pig. The event is free to enter but donations are welcome.
Chloe added: “I have already donated two of my own Robbie Williams tickets to help raise funds for the charities – they raised £370 and we have already got donations of £2,000 from my work and from friends.
“I have written to companies and got donations provide for our raffle, and local businesses have been amazing by contacting me wanting to donate towards to the day too, so there are lots of amazing prizes to be won.
“It will be a great day for all the family and we are hoping to raise lots for these well deserved charities.”
