Early on Friday morning, bottles and bricks were thrown at police vehicles on Castlehey as they patrolled the area in response to an earlier attack on a delivery driver.
Five men from Skelmersdale, aged 19, 20, 21, 24, 26, and two 17-year-old boys, also from Skelmersdale, have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and are currently in custody.
Just after midnight, the delivery driver was challenged by a group of youths from an address on Castlehey. One person within the group attacked his vehicle with a crowbar and damage was caused to his vehicle.
