A CHURCH created a 5m long banana split to celebrate its first birthday.
Skelmersdale Baptist Church came together after the Sunday service on September 29 to create the epic dish.
Young and old members of the congregation used 23 bananas, 10 litres of ice cream, one litre of cherries, three bottles of chocolate sauce, two containers of sprinkles and one large bottle of squirty cream to make the banana split.
Pastor James Mansfield said: “We wanted to do something different to celebrate our first birthday and thought creating a banana split would be fun.
“It was a team effort to make it all and the older members of the congregation enjoyed it as much as the little ones.
“We all got together to eat it afterwards, which was great.
“There wasn’t much left by the end of the day as it was so yummy.”
The church meets weekly at the Flimby Hall, in Birchgreen, on Sunday at 2pm and Wednesday at 7pm.
All are welcome to attend.
