WHEN Steph Woods was kicked out of the X Factor at bootcamp earlier this year she vowed it wouldn’t be the last we saw of her – and she’s not wrong.
Off the back of her appearance on the hit ITV show a London producer has been in touch with Steph via Twitter and she’s recorded two cover tracks which have been uploaded to YouTube.
Steph, 20, sang Roar by Katie Perry and Diamonds by Rihanna, and both tracks have gone down a storm on the video site with thousands of views on each.
Steph, from Skelmersdale, said: “I don’t want to give too much away but I have been working with a producer and it’s all going really well.
“When I left the X Factor I really hoped it wouldn’t be the end of my singing journey and it appears that there are some good things to come.
“Getting kicked off could be one of the best things to happen to me as what I’m currently working on is really exciting.
“I’ll hopefully be releasing a single at some point and I’m doing some vocals on another artist’s track at the moment.
“I’m usually a power ballads kind of girl but the stuff I’ve been doing recently has been a bit different, which is good.
“My family are all really excited that it’s all going so well and can’t wait to see what it sounds like.”
Steph has been travelling around the country over the past couple of weeks as she works on her new material in the studio.
Her following on social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter has exploded with hundreds of messages of support flowing in every day.
Steph has come a long way since her first appearance on X Factor when she was just 14.
After she failed to get through to judges’ houses she spent the following years brushing up her act and gigging around West Lancashire.
Sharon Osbourne has a special bond with Steph and was a fervent supporter for her on this year’s show.
Steph said: “I’m really enjoying the experience at the moment. It’s a bit mad but I’m loving it.
“I can’t give too much away but people should keep their eyes peeled as there will be some exciting news in the next couple of weeks if everything comes off.
“I’m still just Steph from Skelmersdale though. Skem will always be home.”
