A GRANDMOTHER of three has lost an amazing four stone in 36 weeks.
Dot Jones, 60, gradually gained weight over the years – peaking at just over 16 stone following the birth of her son.
She was brought along to Slimming World in May by her daughter-in-law, Claire, who had impressed her by losing two stone. She then introduced her daughter Emma, who has also lost over two stone since joining.
Dot, who lives in Melbreck, told the Advertiser about her weight loss journey
She said: “I wouldn't have been able to do it without the help and support from my Slimming World group and Claire and Emma.
“I had never felt any incentive before but Slimming World have been brilliant. They have helped me learn about making the healthiest choices and how to cope with challenges that might previously have thrown me off course, like Christmas dinner or parties. I plan on losing just a bit more weight in the New Year.”
Dot has now got herself into a healthy routine, going swimming on a regular basis, and replacing her junk food with diet drinks and healthy cooked meals.
She said: “I didn't realise at the time how weight gain can be due to something as simple as the way you cook a meal. What I miss the most is chocolate and bread, they were my guilty pleasures.”
Now, however, Dot feels like a new woman and cannot wait to show off her new figure and wardrobe to all her friends and family at Christmas.
She said: “My husband, Brian, is absolutely delighted with my transformation, he can’t stop showing pictures to everyone”.
The retired mum of two is thrilled to be in this shape and is looking forward to spending her Christmas with her three grandchildren, Faye, nine, Sophie, three, and Kaleb, One.
She said: “I never imagined I could do it, I really hope my achievements will inspire others and show that it doesn't matter how old that you are slimming down can make a huge different to your confidence and self-esteem I’d really encourage people to look into it”.
