THE new year has got off to a very bad start for one family after thousands of pounds worth of designer handbags were stolen from their home, leaving them distraught.
Police are appealing for information following the burglary in Skelmersdale on New Year’s Eve.
Between 11.30am on New Year’s Eve and 12.30pm on New Year’s Day, intruders broke into a house on Darfield in Up Holland.
The thieves made off with 10 Louis Vuitton handbags, as well as a distinctive diamond ring, a laptop and several bottles of perfume.
Lancashire police are currently investigating the crime and are asking for people with information to come forward.
PC Richard Booth said: “The owners of the property have been left devastated by the burglary and we are doing all we can to reunite them with their property and bring the people responsible to justice.
“If anyone has any information about the burglary I would urge them to contact us.
“I would also be keen to speak with anybody who saw or heard anything suspicious between the times in question.
“We have also released photographs of some of the handbags and the diamond ring. If you believe you know where some or all of these items might be then please call us.
“Even the smallest amount of information could help so please do come forward if you think you can assist us.”
