POLICE are warning Skelmersdale residents to be extra vigilant following thefts from cars parked on the owners’ driveways.
On Tuesday night there were a number of thefts from cars in the Old Skem area. It is believed the vehicles were left unlocked.
Last week a car on Whitemoss Road in Old Skelmersdale was targeted by opportunistic thieves. Some time between 9pm on Tuesday, January 7 and 9am on Wednesday, January 8 thieves raided a family’s Honda Civic that was parked on the driveway.
The thieves found the car unlocked and after raiding it managed to get away with an expensive Tom Tom sat-nav.
Police have not made any arrests in connection with the incident and are asking any members of the public to come forward with any information relating to the theft.
A police spokesman said: “This is a reminder to keep your vehicle locked and secure when not in use. Last week a vehicle was targeted in Old Skelmersdale were it is believed the owner has left the car unlocked overnight. There were also a number of thefts on Tuesday evening.
“Be vigilant and aware, always keep it locked, remove your valuables and keep items out of view.
“It’s vital that we do everything we can to prevent crimes from happening; working together we can stop criminals but we need your help.”
