PC CHRIS THOMPSON has been awarded the community award for Skelmersdale.
The officer, based at Skelmersdale Police Station, has worked with his local community and residents for many years.
He has been involved with a number of different projects including a local junior school football teams activity session and running a big ball and positivity session on a Wednesday evening.
The events are aimed at young people aged five to 14, and PC Thompson gets involved every week on his day off.
PC Thompson often tries to pinpoint young people during his nightly patrols to get them involved in the positive activities.
He also works as an assistant leader at a local youth group and works with children who do road travel enforcement training.
PC Thompson has also attended anti-bullying and anti-social behaviour conferences.
He is described as having and continuing to make a positive difference with his hard work and has gone the extra mile, while providing friendship to vulnerable adults and older people in the community who previously felt isolated.
