Skelmersdale youth leader scoops community award
ALAN LEWIS runs a number of community groups and projects, working tirelessly with young people from across Lancashire.
Alan dedicates his life to charity and runs Skelmersdale Action For Youth, who aim to identify youth- based issues and react in a positive and pro-active way.
The group is made up of young people, aged 12-25, who work on campaigns to improve the lives of young people in the area.
Thanks to Alan, they have provided positive activities for 3,651 children and young people in the Borough of West Lancashire with an emphasis on encouraging health, independence and confidence. In all that he does, Alan actively promotes a team-based and communal approach and welcomes people of all abilities, backgrounds, cultures and sexualities.
He actively raises awareness for such key issues such as the dangers of drink-driving, Anti-Social Behaviour, bullying and domestic violence in the relationships of young people, and has set out to highlight the impact of violence on young people in relationships.
Alan always aims to boost young people's confidence, self-esteem, communication and leadership skills through advice, support and teamwork.
