The death toll from a major quake that struck Pakistan's south west has soared overnight.
Kamran Asad, a spokesman for the chief secretary of Baluchistan province, gave the updated figure of 182. Previously, officials had put the death toll from Tuesday's quake at 39.
Another spokesman for the provincial government, Jan Mohammad Bulaidi, put the death toll as high as 216. The conflicting death tolls are probably due to the difficulty in contacting local officials and people in the remote region.
The magnitude 7.7 quake struck in the district of Awaran in Pakistan's Baluchistan province.
