A man and a young boy have died after their car crashed off a bridge into the River Clyde.
The accident happened on the A725 at Bothwell Bridge, South Lanarkshire, at around 11.15am yesterday.
Emergency services attended and police divers searched the water.
A 38-year-old man and a nine-year-old boy were removed from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. R elatives have been informed.
A force spokeswoman said: "A search of the area and water took place, and a short time later two people were removed from a vehicle in the water.
"Sadly, one man, aged, 38 years and a boy aged nine years were pronounced dead at the scene."
The road was closed for several hours while as officers investigated the scene of the crash.
Police appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them on 101.
