Tarleton first XI advanced to the quarter finals of the Sandhurst Shield with victory over local rivals Hesketh Bank at a wet and windy Station Road on Sunday.
In a low scoring affair, Tarleton won the toss and chose to field first, eventually bowling out the hosts for just 45 in 27 overs.
Extras were the top scorer for Hesketh Bank, with Chris Buck and Geoff Gray making best use of the conditions with three wickets each.
The visitors survived a mid-innings wobble to chase down the target with 5 wickets in hand. Opener Dave Thompson stood firm, hitting 20 not out including the winning runs.
Tarleton have set up a quarter final tie at home against Merseyside Commonwealth Conference, with the game due to be played on Sunday, June 8.
It was a superb effort by Hesketh Bank to get the game on in the first place, after both sides suffered abandonments on Saturday because of heavy rain.
Tarleton were 68-4 in their home fixture against Haydock on Saturday when the rain intervened, with Dave Thompson looking well set on 32.
Meanwhile, both Tarleton 2nd and 3rd XIs games were abandoned without a ball being bowled.
Despite the washout, Tarleton 3rd XI have qualified for the semi-final of the Leyland Trophy after wins in their opening two fixtures.
The Semi Final will take place on Sunday, June 22.
Tarleton always welcomes new members of all ages and abilities.
Kwik Cricket for ages 7 and above and Under 11 sessions take place on Saturday mornings from 9.10am and 10-11.30am respectively.
Under 13 sessions are on Friday evenings from 6.30-8pm, whilst Under 15, Under 18 and Senior net practices are on Thursdays at the same time.
