Mariners needed two Michael White penalties to put ten man Kestrels out of the Stanley Bowl.
Kestrels also missed a penalty in a game that most impartial spectators were just glad to see the end of. Paul Welsh scored for Kestrels and also missed their penalty.
Fantail beat Melling Victoria 3-0 to meet Mariner's in the final but no report was submitted.
In the Premiership, bottom club Standpark had their best win of the season hitting The Tail for six and causing some questions to be asked as to why their season has not gone so well.
The Tail managed a consolation but again no report was submitted.
Division One also had a day full of surprises as high flyers Falcon struggled against the Liver before settling for a 2-1 win. The Liver dominated for most of the game but could only find the net once as the Falcon keeper had the game of his life. In their excitement they failed to give the goalscorers or any other information for either team.
A Will King quality strike completed the day of shocks as Ambrose Ellis beat champions elect Platinum M/W by the odd goal. The usual free scoring Platinum side struggled to break down the excellent Ambrose rear line, and must be glad they have games in hand to correct this bloomer.
The match between Sacred Heart and Coach & Horses was postponed.
