Local businesses support grass roots football

Mitch F.C held a club race night to raise funds to establish new junior teams for the 2014-15 season.

The night at the Comrades Social Club in Old Skem was a huge success.

The event was organised by Louise Jennings and the club is extremely grateful and would like to offer a big thanks for all her hard work and time to get the event over the finish line.

Club Chairman Ian Gregson said: “Mitch F.C is a child centred club which relies solely on a minimum subscription basis to grow and nights like these are essential to allow the club to expand and create new teams for the future.”

The event was supported by many local businesses and Ian Gregson went on to say: “The support from some of the local businesses in the community was fantastic, the club would like to thank The Engine Rooms, The Co-Op, Skelmersdale Flower Centre, Elegant Weddings, BalloonsBalloonsBalloons, Ballissimo uno, Styles, and Mr Posh for their raffle prize donations.”

As an FA Charter Standard Club the money raised will all be put into club development as Mitch F.C looks to build on their recent success to establish new teams for the 2014-15 season.

Chris Sowerby discussing club growth said: “The club has continued to build on the solid foundations laid by Andrew Wright and Steven Mitchell with Brookfield Boys and the same positive club ethos and child centred approach to football remains.

“The club is the fastest growing club in Skelmersdale which will be expanding from 7 teams to 15 teams in the 2014-15 season.

It’s great to see the club success going from strength to strength allowing the club to engage with more children, young people and adults.”

Chris continued to say: “We are looking to establish new teams at U7's and U8's next season and add to the U9's squad, and training for these age groups starts on Wednesday, April 23 at Glenburn Sports College on the field, between 5 and 6pm.

“All players, boys and girls of all ability levels welcome, even if your child has never kicked a ball but they want to get involved then come down or contact the club for further details. The training is completely free and will be taken by an experienced UEFA B FA qualified Coach.”
