No doubt for Thomas after Compound win

Nethermoss Juniors going from strength to strength

On the weekend of Saturday, July 5 and Sunday, July 6 Nethermoss Junior Archers Heather Hughes and Thomas Rice, along with associate club members, from High Elm Archers, Georgia Maryon and from St Helens Archers Kieran Shirley, all participated in the Archery GB Junior National Championships and Junior World Archery Star 2014 competition.

The two day shoot consisted of shooting a Metric round on Saturday at World Record Status and a Bristol round on Sunday at UK Record Status.

Both Saturday and Sunday saw hot and sunny days with all four archers shooting fantastically well.

Nethermoss Junior Compound Archer, 13 year old Thomas Rice, was placed 1st winning the Compound Cup on Saturday after getting a score of 1301, beating the second place archer by 9 points. He also achieved a Gold English Cross award and gained another Junior Master Bowman score.

On Sunday after an extremely hard fought match and with the narrowest of margins Thomas was placed 2nd.

He gained a Purple Rose award which is the highest achievement available in these awards and a personal best score.

Heather achieved 15th place on Saturday and with a score of 1230 also gained a Junior Master Bowman score and a Gold English Cross award.

On Sunday she scored 1140 and gained another Junior Master Bowman score.

Heather was also placed in the Lancashire Recurve Teams on both days.

Kieran came a very respectful 10th place on both days, and achieved his Blue English Cross award on the Saturday.

On Saturday Georgia managed to get 12th place shooting a personal best score and her 5th Junior Master Bowman score of the year.

She was very pleased with coming in the top half of the field.

On Sunday she did even better coming 5th, shooting another personal best of 1176 (beating her previous best by 72 points) and gaining her 6th Master Bowman score. She got a 6 gold end at 50yds.

Along with Heather, Georgia’s scores were also put towards the Lancashire Recurve Teams.

All at Nethermoss Archers are very proud of their junior archers and continue to be very impressed with the skills and determination shown by each and everyone of them.
