The annual High Elm ‘Westerns’ archery competition was held at their home grounds of the Altcar Rifle Ranges in Hightown.
Although strong gusting winds made for difficult shooting it was once again that Nethermoss Archers took many of the trophies and medals.
Competing in the gents Recurve category and taking an unchallenged lead from the start was Jack Grogan who won the trophy for yet another consecutive year.
In the ladies senior section a closely fought battle was in progress between Nethermoss’s Carmen Batt and Linda Ferrie of Wirral Archers.
The trophy was finally won by Carmen who shot exceptionally well towards the end of the tournament.
In the junior section of the tournament, Michael Rice (9) put on a strong performance at his first ever competition shooting his Recurve Bow, and although he didn’t score enough to win any of the Silverware he was awarded the Lady Paramount’s prize of a box of chocolates.
His brother Thomas (13) shot the senior distances with his Compound bow and went on to win the junior gent Compound title.
Heather Hughes (13) represented the junior lady recurve entry from Nethermoss, and won her category with an overwhelming score.
Last but certainly not least of the Nethermoss junior entrants was Harrison Moss (14), shooting in the recurve category, he fought a neck and neck match with Chorley’s Tom Walne (16) and eventually won the trophy.
Finally a combined score from senior archers Carmen Batt, Jack Grogan, Shaun McClure and Keith Mahood secured the recurve team trophy for Nethermoss.
