Local archer Georgia Maryon of High Elm Archers in Hightown and Nethermoss Archers in Ormskirk, has had a great start to her 2014 summer season.
After turning 14 in February she moved up to the under 16 class of archery, which involves shooting at competition distances up to 50 metres.
She expected to be at a disadvantage shooting against older and more experienced juniors, but in her first 4 competitions throughout Lancashire, Cheshire and Yorkshire this summer she has gained two 3rd place medals, one 2 place one 1place.
In these competitions she has represented Lancashire against Cheshire, has represented the Northern Counties Region against East Midlands Region and shot at two junior championships and done herself and her team proud with her scores.
Her shooting has also improved so well over the winter training season that she has already achieved an under 16 Junior Master Bowman classification with the scores in her first 3 competitions shooting in this age group.
Georgia was ranked equal 29 in the UK last year, she is hoping that these scores will move her into the top 20 when they are assessed at the end of the season.
Sundog Creative Limited of Formby sponsor Georgia to help with equipment, coaching and travel expenses. “We are really proud of what Georgia has achieved this season so far, and know that with good support, coaching and practice she can go far.”
Georgia has six more UK and World Record Status shoots booked in this year. Since gaining her Junior Master Bowman status last year she has been invited to shoot at the national Junior Masters in Nottingham in August pitting her against the best young archers in the country.
