Louis Tomlinson won the Ingham Trophy at Rossendale the day after helping Lancashire retain The Daily Telegraph Northern Counties League title by beating Cumbria at Furness.

The West Lancs player strung together rounds of 71 and a best-of-the-day 67 to prevail by three shots from Clitheroe’s Mark Ashworth.

Meanwhile, Tomlinson’s county clubmate Ciaran Doherty, from Bury, took his season’s tally in the Cleveland Srixon Northern Order of Merit to 1,040 points, some 225 ahead of his nearest rival Mark Young, of Longridge.
