Golfing youngsters tee off at Wollaton Park

Lancashire pursue a hat-trick of Four Counties Junior Tournament crowns at Wollaton Park next week.

They will face the hosts Nottinghamshire, Shropshire and Herefordshire & Cheshire in the series of round-robin matches on April 10-11.

The eight-strong Red Rose squad includes reigning county and boy champion Haydn McCullen who is making his third appearance in the event and is the lone survivor from last year when Lancashire prevailed at The Herefordshire.

McCullen, who is in the 10-strong England Boys' squad, is a member of Cheshire club Delamere Forest who opted to play for his native county.

Lancashire have won the trophy on 12 occasions since the tournament was instigated in 1973 at Nottinghamshire club Hollinwell.

Past players include Sandy Lyle, Ian Woosnam, Nick Dougherty, Jamie Donaldson, Paul Waring and David Horsey.
