With this coming Saturday’s LBS Shield semi-final fast approaching, Ormskirk’s second team were hoping to use the scheduled league game versus Leigh as final preparation.
Sadly, with Leigh’s higher teams struggling to field players, it meant that the game was conceded, so although that stretches Kirk’s winning run to five, captain, Adam Glover was a little disappointed not to have a final chance to assess his players.
After two relegations in three seasons, this season has been about rebuilding for the clubs beleaguered second team and after a difficultly inconsistent first half the season, the new named Ormskirk Ducks, have finally seen the best laid plans come into fruition.
This has been further emphasised by a superb run in the cup which has already seen them topple the league leaders, Tarleton and Division 4 East title winners Sedgely Park en route and they will be the underdogs again this coming weekend when they make the daunting trip to third placed side Aspull.
Captain Glover will likely have close to a full compliment to choose from with only Kieran Alsopp (Broken Collarbone) and Johnathon Cobbold (holiday) unavailable for selection.
Kick off is 3pm at Aspull RUFC for anyone who wishes to cheer the lads on.
