Tarleton had to settle for a draw on Saturday in their latest SADACL Premier Division clash with local rivals Hesketh Bank, after Paul Barton smashed a century for the hosts at Station Road.

The opening batsman hit 122, as Hesketh Bank amassed 257-3 declared in good batting conditions.

Tarleton reached 106-5 in reply, as the match petered into a draw.

Peter McDermott made 26 not out and Dave Huyton also finished unbeaten on 17.

The result leaves Tarleton ninth in the Premier Division, whilst Hesketh Bank moved to within three points of Halsall West End as they look to move out of the relegation zone.

Tarleton 2nd and 3rd XI were in action at Carr Lane on Saturday, and both recorded easy victories.

The 2nd XI bowled Norley Hall out for 77, and chased down the target for the loss of just 1 wicket.

Mike Gray finished on 34 not out, after Sam Wilkinson and Craig Aspinall earlier took 3 wickets apiece.

The 3rd XI were even more convincing, recording a 10-wicket victory over Crosby St Mary’s. Mike Webster and Henry Edmondson both finished on 19 not out, after Ashley Holcroft and Ste Southern claimed 3 wickets each.

Meanwhile, congratulations to Tarleton 3rd XI on reaching the final of the Leyland Trophy. The final will be played on Sunday, August 3 at Southport Trinity’s The Rookery ground.

Team Captain Andy Short said: “The 3rd XI has been a great stepping stone for some of the younger lads, and is a promising sign for the club for the future.”

Tarleton always welcomes new members of all ages and abilities.

Kwik Cricket for ages 7 and above and Under 11 sessions take place on Saturday mornings from 9-10am and 10-11.30am respectively.

Under 13 sessions are on Friday evenings from 6.30-8pm, whilst Under 15, Under 18 and Senior net practices are on Thursdays at the same time.
