West Lancs club pass University challenge

Tennis alive and well in West Lancs

Ormskirk Tennis Club

Andy Murray may have crashed out of Wimbledon but Ormskirk Tennis Club is keeping the tennis alive in West Lancashire!

Coming on the back of being announced as West Lancashire’s Club of the Year, Ormskirk Tennis Club has recently become one of West Lancashire’s first sporting clubs to receive Children’s University accreditation, an illustration of hard work and dedication that is put into the clubs’ mini and junior tennis club sections and an endorsement for the opportunities that are consequently on offer.

The Tennis Club, with the support of the local borough council, has also just hosted Ormskirk’s 2014 Tennis Festival, an event that proved a huge success with over 500 people taking part, including local school children as part of the primary schools tennis event that featured during the event.

Rob Owens (Chairman of OTC) said: “The Club is proud to have hosted the Tennis Festival and gained Children’s University accreditation as both demonstrate the club’s commitment to promoting tennis in the community.

“We work all year round with schools and community groups across West Lancashire to ensure that children and adults have access to free and affordable tennis, we are a family friendly club that puts fun at the heart of all we do and encourage people to try one of the many free taster sessions the club offers for all ages and abilities.

“Our biggest achievement is not the gaining of Clubmark, being Children’s University accredited or being announced as Club of the Year, it is our ability to provide an enjoyable and accessible programme activity that values people equally whatever their age and ability and encourages them to develop new skills and make new friends.

“We are proud to be recognised as a beacon of quality and will continue to offer the very service we can!”
