Grady makes the grade for Lancashire

Youngsters lead the way at Greenmount

Champion: Grady receives the trophy from county president David Eccleston

Grady Rogerson was crowned Lancashire U14 Boys’ Champion after a close encounter at Bury club Greenmount.

The Royal Lytham & St Annes six handicapper carded a seven-over-par 77 to win by a shot from Rossendale’s Luke Bartram thanks to a birdie at the 16th.

Some 40 aspiring youngsters tested their skills and accuracy on narrow tree lined fairways and short game control on fast, firm greens.

Grady and Luke have been selected to play in the Lancashire Mixed Age squad to face Cheshire at Knutsford on August 7.

LEADING SCORES: 77 Grady Rogerson (Royal Lytham & St Annes); 78 Luke Bartram (Rossendale); 80 Sam Thornton (Knott End), George Holland (S&A), Greg Holmes (Wigan).
