Elvis tribute act entertains the crowds at St Anne’s Parish Centre in Aughton

THE Duke became the king to help raise money for St Anne’s RC Church in Aughton.

Ormskirk Elvis impersonator David Duke, 40, known as 'The Duke' and DJ 'Funky Chris Dee' Warren, 45, together make up 'The Duke as Elvis Tribute Act'.

The duo put on their show in the Prescot Road church’s social centre pulling in an audience of 250 people and making a donation to the church from a portion of the ticket sales.

This was the biggest crowd the parish centre had seen for a very long time.

The Duke’s nine-year-old son Matthew caused a big surprise when he came on stage to sing some songs with his dad.

Audience members, who included some of Matthew’s teachers at St Anne’s Primary School, gave him a tremendous reception as he sang numbers such as ‘A little less conversation’, ‘Suspicious minds’ and ‘Way on down’.

DJ Chris Warren said, “It was an absolutely brilliant night. We really enjoyed the whole thing.”

The Duke added: “This was the first time Matthew had been on stage with me and he was a real star.

“We didn’t tell anyone he was coming on stage so they were all really surprised to see him.
