SACKED: Burscough FC boss Joey Dunn gets the push

JOEY Dunn was sensationally sacked as manager of Burscough football club last night.

The Linnets boss received a phone call from chairman Chris Lloyd at 5.30pm on Monday evening to inform him that he would be relived of his duties at Victoria Park.

Burscough currently lie in 17th place in the Blue Square North table without a home win all season but produced their best display of the campaign to seal a 1-0 win at high flying Hinckley United on Saturday.

Furthermore, in a swift move the West Lancashire club have announced that former Vauxhall Motors manager Andy Mutch will take charge at Victoria Park as of today.

A club statement read: "Manager Joey Dunn has been relieved of his duties at Burscough FC with immediate effect. The chairman would like to thank Joey for his endeavours on behalf of Burscough FC, in what have been difficult circumstances.

"Chairman Chris Lloyd and Burscough FC would also like to make an additional announcement that Andy Mutch will take up the role of first team manager."

Shocked and angry at receiving the news of his dismissal, Dunn has revealed all the to Advertiser saying: "The decision is absolute rubbish and doesn’t stack up - the whole thing stinks."
