BURSCOUGH manager Andy Mutch has confirmed striker Jordan Stepien is the latest casualty of the Linnets’ financial cut backs.
The Greens’ board last week confirmed the playing budget had to be cut for the club to remain sustainable and with Stepien on non-contract terms he was open to offers from other sides.
Stepien’s has rejoined Leigh Genesis, the UniBond Premier Division side he left in October to join the Victoria Park team.
But Mutch has vowed to fight on in face of player movement out of the West Lancashire club and brought in defender Ashton Bayliss this week from Blackpool and was impressed with his performance in the 1-0 defeat to Tamworth on Tuesday night.
Mutch takes his Blue Square North struggles to Solihull Moors this weekend in another vital match in their survival bid with the manager well aware the impact three points could have on the relegation run-in.
Mutch said: “Jordan has gone to Leigh Genesis and played his last game for the club on Tuesday night against Tamworth.
“Circumstances have dictated that one or two of our lads have been head hunted which makes it more difficult, almost impossible to keep them.
“We will just have to put out what we have got left, we have a few boys coming back from injury, Dave Roberts and Ross Lloyd are close and Peter Heler is 10 days to two weeks away.
“Tuesday night was a close game, they were stronger in the first half but we changed it around a little bit in the second half and were really unlucky not to get something - although we did not create any real chances, but it was a sterling effort by the boys.
“I spoke last week about how certain games, like the Tamworth one, are big asks for us at the moment but there is an opportunity for us to get something out of the game this Saturday.
All these types of games are proverbial six pointers but there is no divine right to win them but we will do our best to prepare the boys right.
They are certainly showing a great attitude and I do not think anyone can say the lads are not putting the work in - Tuesday night was a stern effort.”
Solihull Moors v Burscough, Saturday, kick off 3pm.
