The Football Association confirm Burscough FC’s relegation to the UniBond Premier Division for the 2009/10 season

THE Football Association have announced the line-up of the UniBond Premier Division for next season and in doing so have confirmed Burscough’s relegation.

Dropping from the Blue Square North, having finished second bottom in the 2008/09 campaign, the Linnets were clinging to the hope a reprieve may have been offered as talk of other clubs’ financial difficulties escalated.

However, this week’s decision has rubber stamped the Greens’ place in step three of the non-league ladder for the 2009/10 season.

Andy Gray’s side will be joined in the division as newcomers by Hucknall Town (relegated) and King’s Lynn (demoted) from the Blue Square North, UniBond First Division North champions Durham City and promotion winners Newcastle Blue Star as well as the UniBond First Division South sides Retford United and Stocksbridge PS.

Although Burscough will lose the Christmas and New Year clashes they have enjoyed with Southport over the last two seasons, they can now renew old rivalries with Marine.

The FA have indicated that issues with clubs throughout the non-league pyramid may result in further changes but as it stands, the Victoria Park outfit will be playing UniBond football.

TheUniBond Premier Division for 2009/10 is as follows: Ashton United, Boston United, Bradford Park Avenue, Burscough, Buxton, Durham City, FC United of Manchester, Frickley Athletic, Guiseley, Hucknall Town, Kendal Town, Kings Lynn, Marine, Matlock Town, Nantwich Town, Newcastle Blue Star, North Ferriby United, Ossett Town, Retford United, Stocksbridge PS, Whitby Town
