DOMINIC MORLEY has revealed his hurt at Burscough’s current plight.
The combative midfielder was part of the Linnets squad which won the UniBond Premier Division title in 2007 on a dramatic final day of the season.
But Morley admits he is sad to see his club fall from the unprecedented heights of the Blue Square North to now fending off relegation to the UniBond First Division as well as dealing with financial worries.
Although plagued by injuries in recent seasons, Morley’s return to full health will be a boost for Andy Gray’s men ahead of this weekend’s match at home to Bradford Park Avenue.
Morley said: “I was suffering with two cruciate knee injuries. Hopefully, touch wood, everything is getting back to normal and I have been playing the last two weeks so hope I can keep on progressing and start to get a few 90 minutes under my belt.
“It is a little bit sad to see Burscough in this position but is just one of those things and a lot of non-League and Football League clubs are struggling with finances. But we have just got to get on with it and from my own point of view I have just been concentrating on getting fit and with four months of the season to go, I’m hoping to get a run of games.
“Obviously it is a little sad after Liam Watson built a really good side but a lot of those lads have since left.”
