Burscough FC name new committee

AN EIGHT man committee has been set up to help guide Burscough FC into a new era as former chairman Frank Parr’s return is confirmed.

The new set-up comprises a mixture of former club officials and supporters as the Greens become a self-sufficient club following the sale of Victoria Park to development company Chequer Properties.

There appears to have been no formal process of appointing the new steering panel though the names, suggested because they “made sense”, are said to have met majority approval at a supporters’ club meeting late last week.

Parr will act as a “figure head” for the committee and was appointed given his 30 years of experience at the Linnets’ helm and his contacts with league and Football Association officials.

Head of the committee, Parr will not have final say on any matters but will chair meetings - all decisions will be put to a vote with the majority of issues referred to the supporters’ club before implementation.

Joining Parr and representing the fans will be Richard Aindow who will also act as Treasurer with Stan Petherbridge taking on the role of Secretary.

Dave Hughes becomes the only club director to sit in the new regime and has been charged with revitalising Burscough’s youth set-up, a role he successfully filled during the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Hughes also comes on board as a representative of Chequer Properties with former club boardroom director Gary Wright adopting the job of head of ground maintenance whilst also acting as a committee presence for second majority shareholders in Burscough Football Club Limited, Glenroyd Developments.
