SEAN Huyton heads north of the border in search of his first podium of the season in the fifth and sixth rounds of the Ginetta Cars Texaco Havoline Championship at Knockhill race circuit near Edinburgh.
Despite having to borrow a car for the previous rounds at Rockingham, Huyton scored two impressive results, with a fifth and sixth, to take him up to sixth in the championship.
The Aughton-based star’s pace was taking him to a podium place in both races at Rockingham but a chequered flag and red flag brought to and end his charge up the field.
He said: “I’m pleased Knockhill is coming up very quickly after Rockingham as my confidence in the car and championship is growing.
“I need to qualify in the top six to have a realistic chance of a podium finish and that is what I’m aiming for.
“I’m pleased to be in the top six in the championship and now my focus is on challenging the top three.”
As the main driver for the championship’s most successful team, Academy Motorsport, Sean has the right backing to make that challenge.
Academy Motorsport boss Matt Nicoll-Jones is confident Sean will challenge for a podium place at Knockhill.
He said: “Sean demonstrated his skills at Oulton Park and Rockingham with a very smooth driving style
“The confidence he gained from both those meetings will benefit him for Knockhill and the rest of the season.
“He knows exactly what he has to do to finish on the podium, something he is more than capable of achieving.”
