MAWDESLEY Tennis Club has made a fantastic start to the first half of the 2009 season.

Mawdesley has five senior teams in the Southport & District Tennis League, and after 41 league and cup matches during the last seven weeks, they have won an impressive 35, drawn just 2, and lost only 4 matches so far.

The most notable result to date, saw Mawdesley 1st Team beat Argyle (The 2008 Division 1 Champions) 10,6 at home in the league – Argyle had been unbeaten for over 12 months!

Mawdesley is becoming a fortress, with just two games lost this season so far at home – with this record visiting clubs really should be afraid!

Marketing and Publicity Officer, Lydia Hale said: “This really has been a stunning start to the 2009 season, Mawdesley Tennis Club has a brilliant atmosphere and is aiming very high this year.

“ It is a fantastic club with a friendly, sociable but competitive ethos – it will be exciting to see what the second half of the season holds!”

If you fancy being a part of this highly successful village club, Mawdesley are always recruiting new members (both junior and senior).

The club, based behind the village hall in Hurst Green – Mawdesley, boasts superb facilities, with 4 hard-courts and a new pavilion – attracting members from a wide surrounding area.

Top-level coaching is on offer from LTA-qualified coaches, including a comprehensive junior programme.
