Another six-goal thriller but Linnets suffer a defeat
A FRANTIC final 20 minutes saw Burscough go down 4-2 at Cammell Laird on Saturday.
After a goalless first half in which the two mid-table sides cancelled each other out, the game kicked into life after the interval.
Substitute Liam Caddick capitalised on a defensive mix-up and lofted the ball over Atherton to put Burscough ahead.
However, moments later and Lairds hit back, Joe Evans’ free-kick was met by the head of Freddie Potter who guided his effort across goal to level.
Caddick then had a singing drive palmed behind by Atherton before the home side edged ahead.
A quickly taken free-kick freed Henders down the right and his cross to the back post found Holt who powered through and prodded home.
It got even better for the hosts five minutes later when Craig Cairns squared for Couch to stroke home a third into the bottom corner.
As the game entered added time Liam Dodd powered a header in to make it 3-2 to make the final minutes nervy.
As the Cammells tried to play the clock down Bowen was hauled down in the box by Paul Williams, who saw red, for a last minute penalty.
Henders sent Horn the wrong way and smashed in the penalty to seal a 4-2 win and bring to an end a thrilling second half.
