Collins set to guest at fundraiser
THE date of the Sportsmen’s dinner evening to be held at Burscough’s Stanley Club has been changed to September 28 with ex-world boxing champion Steve ‘The Celtic Warrior’ Collins who will be bringing his world title belt along for pictures and helping to raise money for local Burscough boy, Alfie Lund.
Alfie is one of only a handful of children in the UK and approximately 120 in the world suffering from MECP2 duplication syndrome.
The charity fundraisers’ aim is to raise awareness into this devastating disorder and funds for specialist equipment for the youngster. At the evening there will be a two course meal, playbacks from Steve’s career, a Q&A with the audience, some boxing stories, his career and boxing today.
There will also be a live screening of the David Haye versus Tyson Fury fight on the club’s big screen.
The evening will also include auctions of signed boxing memorabilia.A full raffle will be donated to the family of Alfie Lund. There will be a top MC for the evening, signed Steve Collins memorabilia and also the chance to get your picture with Steve and the belt.
Tickets are priced at £30 and VIP £50, and doors open at 6pm, VIP meet and greet at 5.30pm.
