Sunderland Flames 0 Ormskirk Ladies XV 36.
Liverpudlian flying winger Louise Jackson crowned an outstanding attacking display with a well-deserved hat-trick of tries in the autumn sunshine at Sunderland RUFC taking the Ormskirk outfit to the top of the league in RFU North Challenge One.Typically modest, the Liverpool Hope student was quick to credit her team mates for her outstanding feat. Jackson said: “All I did was finish some great play from our backs. They created all the space and their handling was superb”. There were also two tries from pacy centre Charlotte Pearce, who’s poise and balanced running caught the eye and a real blockbuster from captain Keisha Hendricks who said: “The backs have been scoring all the tries so it’s about time one of the forwards got over the line”.
Coach John Foster was understandably delighted with the result and said: “We gave full debuts to another four players today and a remarkable 12 of the 18 players selected to play are currently university students, so this is still a very young team but they have a huge amount of enthusiasm and the future looks very bright indeed”. Ormskirk ladies train each Thursday at Edge Hill University from 7pm and their next league fixture is an eagerly awaited local derby at home versus Southport on Sunday, October 27.
