SKELMERSDALE UNITED have rewarded Karl Ledsham’s performances by handing him a contract.
Signed from Vodkat Premier Division side St Helens Town in September, Ledsham has played a pivotal role in Skem’s promotion push.
Manager Tommy Lawson said he was “delighted” at securing the attacking midfielder in a week the club progressed to the semi-final of the Liverpool Senior Cup.
United thumped Southport 7-0 on Tuesday night to set up a potential tie with Liverpool, Tranmere Rovers or Everton who face Bootle on Monday night.
Lawson said: “It was a really good result for us and the name of the game on the night was to just try and progress to the semi-final.
“We now hope to draw Liverpool or Everton and encourage a few through the gates. Naturally we are looking forward to the draw. If it is Everton or Liverpool then the game will be at home but if we get Tranmere then it will be at Prenton Park, which will be a great experience.
“I was pleased with the performance and it was important after Saturday’s game (at home to Chorley) was called off that we got as many minutes in the squad as possible.
“Allan Smart (Head of Youth Development at Southport) was very complimentary after the game about the way we played which was pleasing. He is doing a great job there and we played against some quality youngsters who will no doubt have good careers in non-League football.”
Skem pick up their UniBond First Division North promotion hunt this weekend when they travel to Trafford, kick-off 3pm.
