Mariners 2

WYNSTAY startled Mariners with some neat football and goals from Ritchie Lang and Andy Currie took them into a two-goal half-time lead.

Mariners found their touch in the second period and a real battle emerged as goals from Sean Tierney and Kevin Doyle levelled the contest.

With time running out, up stepped Ian Makin to give Wynstay passage into the next round.

Royal Standard 7

Kodak 2

ROYAL Standard go forth to fly the flag after their crushing defeat of Kodak.

Hat-trick hero Andy Windsor and teammate Trevor King sent them into a comfortable half-time lead, as Kodak failed to get their shutter open. John Mellor made it five before Kodak managed to get back into the game with two from Robert Lloyd.

That was their best period, though, and Standard soon put that behind them with further goals from Jim Tomlin and Eddie Eastwood.

Bar Du Fay 1

Garston Woodcutters 6

BAR Du Fay were quickly disposed of as the Woodcutters chopped gaping holes through their defence.

Two goals from David Sharpe with further goals from Aden Teak, Steve Halford, Peter McVey and Terry Axon did the damage.

John Yates grabbed a consolation for the Bar but too little too late for the Ormskirk boys.

Kestrels 7

Rileys 3

KESTRELS gave Crosby team Rileys a goal start before they came to life in this one-sided contest.

Andy Slater opened the scoring for Rileys after ten minutes. Two goals from Gary Myers were followed by strikes from Paul Welsh and Adam Atkinson, giving Kestrels a commanding lead. This happened before keeper Ross Boyd gifted Rileys two goals with some nightmare mistakes.

Steve Makin cashed inwith two reducing the deficit before half-time.

The second period was all Kestrels and further goals from Welsh, Burghall and McDermott completed the rout.

Bathroom Centre 1

Phoenix 2

TWO goals from Luke Hamilton, one each half, was enough to sink the Combi Bathroom Centre.

Phoenix battled throughout against their Liverpool opponents but failed to prevent an early second-half equaliser from Brian Plumber. This only added to the contest and produced some attractive football from both teams.

With Hamilton on song, though, Phoenix enter the draw for round two.

Inn Village 7

Pavilion Athletic 0

THE Village disposed of the Pavilion without effort as they started their campaign to retain the Junior Cup.

Hat-tricks from Ashley Dineley and Charles McHugh, with one squeezed in between by Tom Baker, secured their passage to the second round.

Two ahead at the break, despite some good play from the Pavilion, Village totally dominated the second-half.

Premier Electrics against the Mogul was called off, again due to no referee being available, and Meadows received a bye into the next round.

Liverpool Intermediate Cup

MCA 1

Lute Oakfield 1

(AET Lute Oakfield won 3-1 on penalties)

KARL Bennett opened the scoring for MCA in their lacklustre tie with Lute Oakfield Just before the break, MCA committed suicide netting an own-goal. The score remained at 1-1 for the next 75 minutes as a penalty shoot out loomed. s.

Brick Makers 3

THIS game was locked at 1-1 after 90 minutes and required extra-time to produce a result.

Goals from Dave Martinez for Cockbeck and Tommy Mason for the Brick Makers sent the match into extra-time. There were many tired legs and three more goals were scored.

Martinez linked with Wynne for Cockbeck’s second before Graham Stone and Mark Harris got the late goals that put the Brick Makers through.

Other result: Larkspur 5 Brown Moor 4, Burscough CC 0 Multi Flex 4, Quarry Green Reserves 4 Harrington 6.
