Division One

Mariners7

Inn Village1

MARINERS finished their championship season with a seven goal thrashing of Inn Village.

Hat-trick hero’s Lee Brennan and Connor Belger did the damage with Jay Banowitch throwing one in for good measure. Ashley Dinely scored the Village consolation but that’s all they could manager despite some attractive football throughout.

Mogul4

Melling Victoria6

Melling Victoria take second spot, finishing their season with six against the luckless Mogul.

Three one ahead at the break with a hat-trick from Jordon Milson the Vic’s had no intention of missing out on the runners up position.

Anthony Shepherd, managing to claw one back for the Mogul before the half time break.

Kevin Boyle, Dean Early and Kevin Cavanagh got the other three in the second half with a brace from Steven May and a late goal by keeper Peter Rogers giving a respectable finish to this game for the Mogul.

Kestrel’s5

Wynstay3

Third spot was taken by the Kestrel’s who took a two goal lead with a brace from Paul Welsh before a succession of misses gave Wynstay some hope.

Ian Makin and Mike Curry levelled the game before the break as Wynstay gained momentum.

Ritchie Lang gave Wynstay the lead early in the second half and once again the game turned.

Ben Sumner equalised with the goal of the game, Gary McDermott made it four not long after he replaced the injured Tommy Hughes and Terry Burghall crashed home number five from a free kick. Both teams played some classy football that entertained the large gathering.

Division Two

Horse & Jockey2

MCA1

Horse & Jockey against the MCA turned out to be a real close encounter, with both teams defences way on top for the first hour of this game.

Then a brace of goals from the head of Andrew Black prevented a photo finish as the Jockey took control for a short period.

Darren McIntyre cracked home a scorcher to give the MCA belief once against but that completed the scoring as the game tightened up once again. Both teams where worthy of a share of the points, but the Jockey’s Black head ensured them second spot and a possible promotion.

Metropolitan2

Warby3

Metropolitan found themselves a goal behind after the first half thanks to a Mike Watson header put the Warby in the driving seat.

Jay Potter doubled that lead eight minutes into the second half after another well crafted move and the Warby must have thought this one was in the bag.

Dave Stott had other ideas though as his well placed shot gave Metropolitan belief once again. That soon led to a Robbie Knowles equaliser and a draw looked like the final outcome to this oscillating game.

That was till late on when Metro lost their composure and gave away a penalty that Alan Jarvis gratefully cracked home to secure the points for Warby.

Liverpool Intermediate Cup Final

Oasis Cafe1

Knowsley South1

aet (3-4 on pens)

One hundred and twenty minutes could not separate these two teams contesting the Liverpool Intermediate Cup final, so the dreaded penalty shoot out came into play with a disastrous finale for Oasis Cafe.

A good but very tight game of football produced a goalless first 90, before Knowsley grabbed the opener in the first period of extra time with a Greg Harrison strike.

Darren Carr equalised in the second period sending the game to a lottery shoot out and the rest is history for Oasis.

Bar South5

Brownmoor2

Bar South keep their promotion hopes alive with a win over close rivals Brownmoor.

All square at the break thanks to goals from Wayne Hayes who opened for Brownmoor before Lee Sheridan equalised for the Bar just on the break. the half time replenishments inspired the Bar into top gear in the second half, and a brace from Danny Flynn followed by strikes from Dave Harding and Adam Stanton left no-one in any doubt of the Bar’s intentions.

Robert Radford did convert a late penalty for Brownmoor, but too little too late.

Harrock2

Ghost0

It took Andy Birks to break the deadlock between Harrock and the Ghost as the Harrock man struck like a guided missile with a diving header to give Harrock a half time lead.

That’s how it remained until a late penalty form John Stalker doubled the scoreline.

The Ghost made life difficult throughout keeping the nervous Harrock on their toes, but the chance of promotion kept Harrock on track and a well deserved win was the outcome.
