Cafe cook up goal feast

The Ormskirk & District Sunday Football League

Division One

Inn Village2

Wynstay2

In the final first division game with nothing to play for, Inn Village and Wynstay produced a 90 minute thriller filled with outstanding football throughout.

Charlies McHugh opened the scoring for the Village with Ritchie Lang equalising before the break in this end-to-end game.

The second half didn’t disappoint either, as the Village mom Lee Harrison sent Ashley Dinely through to net a screamer on the hour. Still the game flowed at a scorching past and once again Lang equalised for Wynstay to deservedly shared the points.

A great advert for Sunday Football for all who saw this game.

Division Two

Oasis Cafe7

Database1

With all to play for Oasis Cafe thrashed Database in the drab encounter.

Four ahead at the break with Darren Carr opening before a Carl Scroggy hat-trick, it was all to easy for Oasis.

Terry McDonald, Andy Corrin and James Riley completed the rout before Barry Thomas nabbed a late consolation for Database.

With more games to play over the next few weeks, the Championship has yet to be finalised along with promotion issues. But with little opposition from those teams without nothing to play for, it now looks to be a four horse race for the prizes.

Bar South7

Burscough CC2

Bar South maintain their push for a prize with a seven to two thrashing of Burscough CC.

Thomas Foley was the hero of the day with four goals with Mike Davies, Neil Hulme and Adam Stanton getting the others.

Burscough replied through Chris Blakeman and David Addy and played some good football throughout, however with little belief after the goals quickly put an end to any hope.

Warby0

Horse & Jockey1

The Horse & Jockey stay in the race with their third win in a week.

This time a solitary goal from James Lannigan, was enough to take all three points off a dogged Warby team still smarting from their mid week defeat Cockbeck. Though things were tight at both ends the game did at least flow, and chances that did come along where wasted or very easily thwarted by each team. The Jock stuck to their mount however and crossed the finishing line with the spoils.

Brownmoor3

Harrock1

Brownmoor now appear to be back in the race with a vital win over their nearest rivals Harrock.

The first half saw nothing between these two teams with James Davies opening the scoring for Brownmoor and John Stalker equalising from the penalty spot for Harrock.

The second half Brownmoor began to get on top, and further goals from Wayne Hayes and James Smith settled the encounter and left Harrock looking for a slip up in the final weeks.
