North Meols 2 Aughton U12s 4
A FEW cute tricks from the home team manager could not prevent Aughton from continuing their winning streak.
Matt Peterson defeated Meg Hyland 4-0, 4-0 and Craig Laverty only dropped a game while comprehensively beating James Langland.
Thomas and George Pratt were both beaten in their singles matches by Cameron Matrevoet and Connor Perrin 2-4, 2-4 and 1-4, 4-1, 7-5.
After Peterson and Laverty had put Aughton into the lead in the doubles 6-3 it made for a grandstand finish in the last doubles pairings.
Despite a partisan crowd, the Pratt brothers were absolutely outstanding to come through 6-3 winners against Matrevoet and Perrin and secure the win fot their team.
Argyle U14s 6 Aughton 0
THE under-14s met a very strong Argyle team and came away without a a point, although this was an unfair reflection as a lot of games went to deuce.
In the doubles, H.Billington and B.Pittam beat T.Peterson and J.Hornby 6-3, whilst D.Brown and L.Halsall put up a brave fight going down 7-6 to E.Stoker and S.Miller.
In the singles Billington got the better of Peterson 4-1, 4-1.
A fantastic battle between Hornby and Pittam followed. Hornby won the first set 5-4, was blanked in the second 4-0 and then lost a very tense championship tie break 10-8.
Brown and Hornby came up against impressive opponents in Stoker and Miller 0-4, 2-4 and 3-5, 0-4 respectively.
