WEST Lancashire racer Sean Huyton is in confident mood ahead of the second round of this season’s Ginetta GT5 Challenge.
After dominating the first round of the season at Oulton Park in April, Huyton is hoping to extend his lead at the Rockingham Raceway in Northamptonshire.
He secured three wins from the three races along with further points for two fastest laps to lead the championship by over 14 points.
The 22-year-old is hoping to bring back a similar points haul from the trip to Rockingham this weekend (June 09-10).
Huyton said: “The results from Oulton Park were a great way to start the season, but things can change very quickly in motorsport so I must keep concentrated.
“Now I’m at the top, everyone else will be targeting me as the person to beat and I’ll have to be aware of that during the three races at Rockingham.
“My aim is to get three podium finishes and extend my lead in the championship, something my team is helping me prepare for.”
Over 100 people travel from West Lancashire and Merseyside to the Oulton park to cheer on Huyton, but he’s not expecting them all at Rockingham.
He added: “Support from sponsors and friend and family has been brilliant so far, it was great to see everyone at Oulton Park.
“I don’t think everyone can make it to Rockingham, but I know I’ll still have plenty of support.”
The championship continues to support the high-profile Formula 3 / British GT package with coverage on Motors TV throughout the year. Ginetta GT5 table:
