Mariners keep up 100% start to Ormskirk and District Sunday League campaign

ONCE again defences struggled in the Ormskirk and District Sunday League.

The goal tallies in two thrilling Division One matches reached double figures, with Wynstay hitting eight.

Meanwhile reigning champions Mariners maintained their 100% start to the season as they claimed their third victory.

Mariners scored seven past visitors Kirkby RAFA to claim an emphatic 7-0 win. NAC have also won three from three after their 5-2 win at home to Kestrels Windmill, while Fantail grabbed their first victory with a 1-0 win at Salisbury Athletic. Melling Victoria and Eden Vale Seniors played out the only draw in the three divisions as their match finished 1-1.

In Division One the goals flew in. Bar du Fay won 5-1 at FC Parnell’s, but that was nothing compared to the 12 goal thriller at Wynstay.

The hosts won 8-4 in a thrilling game with Pivilion Athletic. The most exciting match of the day was surely at McPort United though. There the hosts beat Stand Park 6-5.

The only respectable scoreline of the division was Ormskirk Town’s 2-0 win at MCA. In Division Two Colemans kicked off their campaign in style with a 6-0 win over Ambrose Ellis. Georges beat Left Bank FC 4-1 and Lane’s End took three points with a 4-2 win at Sacred Heart. Database were the most prolific club, bagging winning 7-1 at bottom side Printworks.
