Atherton Royal 1-3 Bickerstaffe

BICKERSTAFFE first team played Atherton Royal away and recorded a 3-1 win to continue their winning streak.

Goals from McKuhen (2) and Connelly in the first 15 minutes indicated a runaway victory but Royal pulled one back to make a game of it.

The seconds ran riot against bottom of the Second Division Hindley Town Res 8-0 at Hall Lane.

Three nil up after 10 minutes indicated an easy victory but all credit to Hindley who never gave up throughout the match.

A missed penalty right on half time did not help Hindley’s cause which Bickerstaffe pounced on in the second half to fire in another five goals.

Goals from Hughes (2) Bulmer, Bridge, Owen, Pennington, Bryne and an absolute cracker from J Anderson who ran over 70 yards beating five players to score with a tremendous shot.

Bickerstaffe are holding a Sportmans dinner on Friday, October 5 at Rainford NE social club tickets £35.
