Melling Victoria 5
NAC 2
MELLING Victoria’s rebuilding programme is beginning to take shape as the youngsters settle into the team in the Ormskirk Sunday League Premier Division.
The NAC who went into this game in top position soon realised this, as Vics’ slick passing and movement took them into a two goal lead with a brace from David Hickman before a quick counter movement from the NAC reduced the score.
Jay McShane was the scorer to make the half time score appear more respectable.
Vics were far from finished though and another brace from veteran Walter Yates and a fifth from Warren Jevons secured the points with Tony Owen squeezing in a second for the NAC in between.
Kirkby RAFA 4
Kestrels 9
In a game of two halves, Kirkby RAFA once again shocked the Kestrel’s with two first half goals from either wing that would not have been out of place on match of the day’s goal of the season, such was the sheer class of both strikes.
Paul Healey and Craig Knox rightly taking all the credit and spurned on by the hard working Paul King, RAFA went in ahead at half time despite a Joey Davies strike for Kestrel’s reducing the arrears.
The second half though was a different story, as the Kestrel’s went on the rampage with their MoM Davies blasting home another three to add to a brace from the impressive Terry Burghall and one a piece for Gary Carney, Mick Boyle and a thunderous header from substitute Mark Gregory back after a nasty ankle break early summer. Paul Healey pulled back two more for the RAFA, securing his hat trick, but the damage was done and the Kestrel’s are now flying high.
Wynstay 2
MCA 0
Wynstay stay top of the first division but had to battle hard against bottom side MCA who are slowly putting their season back on track following their worst start for some years.
A goalless first half was down to some good defending from both teams as the game got tighter by the minutes.
The second half started much the same but Wynstay managed to step it up a touch, and goals from Mike Curry and Ian Smith secured the points in the end.
Jon Morgan, Stuart Williams and Craig Hunter, all had outstanding games for the MCA.
