Westend Reds extend lead with narrow win over West Lancs

Top met bottom as Westend Reds faced West Lancs, but the positions were not reflected on the pitch.

West Lancs were the better team in the first half and took a deserved lead just before the break when Kieran Gregory floated in a corner for Joe Birch to head home.

West Lancs increased their leadwhen Birch released the impressive Gregory down the wing to slide the ball home comfortably.

After a couple more chances from West Lancs, the league leaders got back in the game from a Lewis Gornall corner that was headed in by George Rose. Gornall was then on the scoresheet himself, sloting the ball in at the near post.

The winner came from another Gornall corner, which saw Nathan Hepke rise highest at the back post and head in the winner.

With the other results ending in draws, Westend Reds have increased their lead at the top to four points.

Man of the match for Westend was Matty Aggrey, whilst for West Lancs it was Dan Jones.
