Burscough and Stoke City battle out a 1-1 draw

MANAGER Dave Wallbank was delighted with the performance and effort made by the whole team in holding a strong Stoke City team to a draw.

Before the game, which took place last Friday evening under the floodlights of Stone Dominoes’ ground, the boys were taken on a guided tour of Stoke’s impressive new training ground facilities at Clayton Wood, which cost £6m to build.

This was a special occasion for the Burscough under-15s team in experiencing Premier League facilities and hospitality, which every boy thoroughly enjoyed.

The result could have gone either way.

Callum White scored first for the Greens with the equaliser for Stoke coming from a disputed penalty decision.

Two great saves from Burscough keeper Liam Buckley and a shot against the crossbar from White in the closing minutes ensured a fair result for both teams.
