Tommy Rogers Skelmersdale & District Sunday Football League – Match reports

Duck Athletic 4 Railway Tavern 2

A CLOSE-FOUGHT clash in testing conditions saw Duck eventually come out on top.

Lee Chesworth opened the scoring with the first goal after 22 minutes only to see Brad Newton reply five minutes later for Railway.

Daley Connolly used all his experience to put Duck back in the driving seat after 39 minutes to make it 2-1 at half-time.

Almost from the re-start it was level-pegging again as Adam Storey found the net for Railway and from then on the game was end-to-end.

Chesworth grabbed his second after 68 minutes to nudge Duck back ahead and an unfortunate own goal sealed the points in a truly great game of Sunday League football.

Kennelwood Butty Bar 2 Highwayman 4

HIGHWAYMAN took all three points in a close game with Tom Wylie grabbing the first after 40 minutes before Kev Leadbetter equalised for Kennelwood just before the break.

Ben Barnes put Highwayman back in front after 57 minutes but again Kennelwood hit back with W. Evans on the mark after an hour.

Wylie stepped up with his second after 65 minutes to Give Highwayman a 3-2 lead and Jay McDevitt put the game to bed with the fourth late on.

The Tanner 3 Village Inn 1

A REALLY open game saw both teams playing some neat, open football.

Jason James broke the deadlock with the opening goal for Village after 20 minutes but 60 seconds later it was all-square as King found the net.

The second period saw Tanner really assert and they scored two superb goals in the last half-hour as Donovan (60) and K. King (76) sealed a fine win.

Toby 12 Elm House 4

A MATCH played in a tremendous spirit with the score at 3-3 at one point and Elm House making a real game of it until Toby’s passing proved too much in the second-half and they rattled in nine goals.
