Latest news and reports from Bickerstaffe FC

BICKERSTAFFE first team maintained their position as leaders of the Premier Division Wigan Saturday League by recording a convincing 6-1 victory over Ince Central at Hall Lane.

A brace apiece from Rimmer and Bowden plus solo strikes via Roberts and Connelly along with a fine team display rounded off a good day.

Ince managed a goal late on in the encounter but it was merely a consolation.

Manager Budgen on his return from holiday will be delighted with the two victories obtained in his absence.

In the Second Division, the reserves travelled to AH Leisure and once again struggled to raise their performance against lesser opposition coming away with only one point after drawing 2-2.

Efforts from Anderson and Bridge gave some satisfaction on the day.

But with the Bickerstaffe forwards missing chance after chance and the chasing sides below them all winning, team boss Bridge will have to get a grip with his lacklustre players otherwise the title will slip away.
