A MIXED weekend for Bickerstaffe Football Club with the first team seemingly blowing their chances of winning theWigan Premier League and the second team convincingly securing three more points to pursue their title ambitions.
In the Premier League, Bickerstaffe first team were at home against a very much weakened Hindley Town side. However, they produced a dour performance losing 2-1.
Bickerstaffe were never in the game finding themselves down 2-0 in the second period and even a penalty by Begley could not raise the team’s performance.
Only two league games remain so Bickerstaffe have to produce two wins to stand any chance of the title.
In contrast, the second XI produced one of their better performances away from home beating Coach & Horses 4-0 with goals from S Boyer (2), S Brooks and L Hughes in a one-sided match which maintains second place in the Second Division, one point behind the leaders with a game in hand.
The reserves have six matches left and a winning run will secure them promotion to the First Division.
